Identity Design

Ai, Ae, Id, Ps, Figma

The Unbound Athlete Search features a bold geometric logotype, inspired by the materiality and construction of the Black Sheep Fly Singlet. This evolved into a comprehensive grid system that formed the foundation of the wider visual identity. The logotype and grid provided a clear set of constraints that guided the design of supporting elements—including photography, iconography, and the lookbook—resulting in a campaign that felt both cohesive and dynamic.

Stages of Unbound Logo
The above illustrates the transformation of the Unbound logo, from Morse code to the final geometric logotype. This process produced a diverse array of design elements, each contributing to the visual identity. These transitional forms were explored through various mediums, including photography and iconography, which ultimately helped shape a more unified and dynamic campaign.

Pages from Unbound Athlete Handbook
Above, the versatility of the logos elements is explored to visually communicate the core purpose of the initiative: taking an unknown athlete (unseen), offering them the support and exposure they need (Unbound), and ultimately helping them realize and maximise their full potential (Unleashed).

Unbound Athlete Search homepage
The Unbound Athlete Search homepage was designed to both promote the initiative and educate visitors, while also serving as a portal for applicants. Though the page is relatively simple, it incorporates several subtle design elements that reinforce the overall Unbound identity.
At the top of the page, an image carousel frames its visuals using the Morse code element from the Unbound identity. Additionally, the website features an on-scroll effect that transforms the hero Unbound Athlete Search logo into its Morse code variant, which then serves as the footer. As the user scrolls further, the logo transforms once again into another variation that emphasizes the grid structure upon which the logo is built.
